Donna Dvornek, age 63, of Bridgeport, was killed around 6:50 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13, after being hit by two vehicles on Main Street at the intersection with Hillview Avenue in Bridgeport.
According to Sergeant Darryl Wilson, of the Bridgeport Police, Dvornek was hit by a 2002 Toyota Camry traveling north on Main Street.
The driver attempted to swerve left but struck Dvornek and traveled about 20 feet before sending her back onto the roadway.
The driver stopped and attempted to stop vehicles from hitting Dvornek, but an unknown vehicle hit her a second time and continue driving north on Main Street, Wilson said.
Shortly after, the Bridgeport Police received a call from an unknown woman who said she had driven over Dvornek and kept going, Wilson added.
An off-duty nurse and paramedic attempted to give CPR and mediation attention until help could arrive. Dvornek was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital where she died from her injuries, Wilson said.
Police were able to get in touch with the woman who had called saying she had also hit Dvornek and she was taken into custody, police said.
